Okay, so I just finished using this CLEP Financial Accounting book + online prep, and here's my real talk review.
First off - the good stuff: This book actually explains accounting concepts in a way that makes sense if you're starting from zero. Like, I had no clue about debits/credits before this, and now I kinda get it? The online practice tests were clutch for figuring out what areas I needed to study more.
But heads up - there are some weird typos that made me double-take. Like random numbers where multiplication signs should be? Not cool for an accounting book where details matter. I had to Google some terms that weren't covered well (looking at you, 'activity analysis').
Pro tip: Pair this with free online resources like AccountingCoach. The book alone isn't perfect, but combined with other materials, it got me through the CLEP exam. Would I buy it again? Probably, but I'd know going in that it's not a complete standalone solution.
