Just finished Identity Unknown, the 28th book in Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series, and wow - it's one of her best yet!
The usual gang's all here - Kay, Marino, Lucy - plus some surprise returns (Carrie Grethen, anyone?). The plot moves at lightning speed with two chilling murders to solve. That finale had me holding my breath!
What I love most? Cornwell's masterful blend of cutting-edge forensics with heart-pounding suspense. The tech explanations are crystal clear without slowing things down. And those plot twists? They come fast and furious!
After some slower entries in the series, this one proves Cornwell's still at the top of her game. The personal stakes feel higher than ever, and Kay's as sharp as her autopsy scalpel.
New readers might want to start earlier in the series, but this standalone mystery works beautifully. Five stars - can't wait for the next one!
