I was excited to try the Philips 6-Outlet Wi-Fi Surge Protector for my home office setup. The idea of controlling my devices remotely and having surge protection sounded perfect.
The initial setup was smooth - the app connected easily to my 2.4GHz network, and I loved being able to turn my desk lamp and speakers on/off with voice commands through Alexa. The braided cord is sturdy and the compact design helped reduce cable clutter.
However, after about 5 months of use, I started noticing issues. The smart outlets would randomly turn off, and eventually stopped responding altogether. The blue status light became dim, and no amount of resetting could fix it. I'm now left with just the basic outlets functioning.
While the concept is great when it works, the reliability problems mentioned in other reviews seem to be a real issue. It's frustrating because the product has so much potential - I really enjoyed the scheduling features and voice control while they lasted.
If you're considering this, I'd suggest looking at more reliable alternatives unless Philips addresses these quality control issues. The smart features are fantastic when they work, but they don't seem to last long enough to justify the price.
