Let me start by saying the Reolink Argus PT has some fantastic features on paper. The 5MP resolution delivers crisp 2K footage, and the 360° pan-tilt function gives you complete coverage of your property. Night vision works surprisingly well too - I could clearly see raccoons rummaging through my trash at 3AM.
The setup was straightforward. I mounted it under my eaves and connected to WiFi easily (both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz options available). The person/vehicle detection worked accurately during testing, sending timely alerts to my phone when delivery drivers approached.
Now for the big disappointment: the solar panel performance. Like many reviewers, I found it barely keeps the camera charged. On cloudy days, the battery drains shockingly fast - sometimes within hours. This completely defeats the purpose of a 'wireless' security camera if you're constantly worrying about power.
The two-way audio works well when the camera has power, with minimal delay in conversations. But when battery is low, this feature becomes unusable as the camera conserves power.
Final verdict? Great camera with impressive tech specs, but unreliable solar charging makes it hard to recommend unless you're willing to frequently recharge manually or invest in additional power solutions.
