Okay, so I got this Elmo fish bowl for my niece who's obsessed with Sesame Street. First impression? ADORABLE! The stickers and little plastic plant had her squealing with joy.
But here's the tea - this bowl is TINY. Like, barely enough room for a betta to turn around. The 1.2 gallon size is more of a temporary home than a proper habitat. If you're getting actual fish, please upgrade to something bigger after the novelty wears off.
The plastic construction is both a pro and con. Great that it won't shatter like glass when (not if) kids drop it. Not so great that my cat knocked it over in 2 seconds flat - water and gravel EVERYWHERE. A lid would've been nice...
Also PSA: RINSE THE GRAVEL FIRST unless you enjoy cloudy fish water (learned that the hard way). Some reviewers didn't get their Elmo stickers which is tragic - we got ours but they don't stick super well.
Final verdict? Super cute starter kit for teaching responsibility, but manage your expectations about long-term fish care. Maybe use it for plants or fake fish instead!
