Let me start by saying I had HIGH hopes for this little walnut-shaped cookie maker. The idea of making those adorable Russian oreshki cookies at home got me so excited! Here's the real deal after using it for a few weeks.
The double-sided heating works surprisingly well - my first batch of walnut cookies came out evenly golden brown in about 3 minutes. The non-stick coating is legit too; I didn't even need to use oil spray and cleanup was just a quick wipe with a damp cloth.
But... (and this is a big but) mine arrived with a crack on the back housing. It still functions, but makes me nervous about long-term durability. The handle also gets hotter than I'd like - definitely need oven mitts!
When it works, it's magical - perfect for holiday baking or making cute desserts for kids' parties. The cookies come out with that signature crisp shell that's perfect for filling with dulce de leche or Nutella. Just wish the build quality matched the great cooking performance.
Bottom line? Great concept with decent execution, but maybe needs better packaging and slightly sturdier materials. Would I buy again? Probably - but only if they fix these quality control issues.
