Just got my hands on the CTA Tools 1077 Hood Extenders for my BMW, and here's the real tea ☕️.
First off, the quality is SOLID. As a weekend warrior mechanic, I’ve had my fair share of flimsy tools, but these? Thick plastic, sturdy clips—no cheap vibes here. Popping them on was a breeze: just slide over the hood struts and snap into place. No more head-banging sessions with the hood latch (seriously, why are they so low on X5s?!).
BUT… not all rainbows 🌈. The shorter extender feels sketchy—barely any material gripping the shock. I double up with both sizes for safety, but honestly, I’d trade both short ones for an extra long extender. Also, heads up: it’s ONE long + ONE short per set (I missed that too 😅). Ordered a second set to make proper pairs.
Verdict? 8/10 for pros/diyers doing engine work. Minus points for the shorty’s trust issues and confusing single-packaging.
