Okay, let's talk about this Epson ET-8500 beast. First off - WOW those colors pop! Printed my vacation photos and they look like professional lab prints. The Claria ET inks are no joke.
BUT... setup was like solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded. That "START HERE" guide? More like "START CRYING". Took me 2+ hours to get WiFi working (turns out I was reading 'l' as '1' - classic).
The good stuff:
- Ink bottles are GENIUS. No spills, easy to fill, and the tanks last forever (printed 50+ photos and barely made a dent)
- That 4.3" touchscreen? Chef's kiss. Makes my old printer feel like a dinosaur
- Photo quality is INSANE, especially on metallic paper (though regular copy paper works surprisingly well)
The not-so-good:
- Paper trays are confusing AF. Still not sure which one is motorized
- Epson's software suite feels like they threw in everything but the kitchen sink
- At $700, this better come with a personal butler
Final verdict? If you print lots of photos and hate buying ink cartridges, it's worth the headache. Just maybe buy some wine for setup day.
